Rob Gray

Senior and staff technical writer for software, cloud, and API documentation

I'm a technical writer in Kitchener, Ontario. For 15+ years I've written documentation for enterprise software, cloud platforms, APIs, and hardware, most recently at Trustly, Snowflake, Great Expectations, and Astronomer. At Trustly I moved the developer portal to Fern and pushed for a structure built around the tasks developers are trying to do.

I am comfortable with docs-as-code workflows: Git, Markdown, and OpenAPI. As a solo, remote writer, I use AI every day for peer reviews and information architecture refinement, and I've built my own tools with it, including a daily job-search script I share with other writers.

Away from the keyboard, you'll find me hiking, cycling, working on cars, or spending time with my family.

Tools I've built

Daily technical writing job search: a Python script, written with Claude's help, that emails a daily list of new technical writing jobs. Free to use and share.
